By the time the guests arrived for my January Cure cocktail party, I had already had a full day of cleaning, hanging curtains, running to the liquor store, picking up a tablecloth, and whipping up dips and hors d’oeurves. Sure, my project wasn’t done, and my place wasn’t totally spotless, but I was dressed, composed, and ready to entertain.

Taking some tips from my go-to vintage entertaining book, I kept it simple, with tried and true dip recipes, cheese, and charcuterie. As that Vogue book says, parties are all about the guests, anyway.

I kept the cocktails simple, too. I had one signature drink, The Jasmine, a lovely Campari, gin, & citrus concoction that my friend Cody is modeling above; plus some beer, bubbles, and brown liquor for those who are put off by candy-colored beverages.

Every time I have a party, I realize I don’t have enough parties. So even though I didn’t truly “finish” the January Cure, I’m glad I celebrated my progress with friends. Cheers to that!

It’s time to party! How are you marking the end of the January Cure?
