This New-to-the-U.S. Store Is Like if IKEA and Target Had a Baby
There’s nothing we love more than wandering the aisles of Target or IKEA and stocking up on all sorts of home goods, furniture, and products—and then hacking them to create something totally our own. So imagine our excitement when we discovered Australian store Anko, which reminds us of a hybrid of those two amazing retailers. While the only brick and mortar stores in the U.S. are all within the Seattle area, we’re pleased to announce that you can easily place orders from the brand online. Better yet, there are plenty of items for sale that are perfect for those of us who love to DIY—will Anko Hacks be the next big thing?! Shop our affordable favorites below, all blissfully hack-able.

A just-add-paint hanging shelf
A simple wall shelf like this one is the perfect candidate for a makeover featuring spray paint or stencils. Tackle just the metal brackets—we could see these spray-painted gold or copper—or paint the entire piece, then use it to display succulents, candles, nail polish, or whatever else needs a stylish home.

A cozy and versatile sheepskin rug
We love a good sheepskin rug during the peak of winter, but honestly, they work all year round because they’re just so adorable and look gorgeous draped over a desk chair, beside a bed, or layered over a patterned rug. Or, you can pull out your tools and turn this rug into a chair cover or pillow. This pink hue is subtle enough that it won’t overpower your existing decor, but it’ll definitely spark tons of compliments. Plus, who can beat that under-$20 price tag?

A cake stand that’s handy for organizing
While a cake stand may not be on your list of absolute essentials, who can resist one for just $12? While it would certainly look darling on the kitchen counter, you could also use it to display makeup or other trinkets on top of a dresser. Make it more personal by decorating the top with a monogram decal or some washi tape.

A basket we’d love to customize
Who doesn’t own a good seagrass basket—or several—these days? Items like this one are so versatile and work in any room of the home. Put one in the bathroom for TP, one in the bedroom for throw blankets, and one in the living room to house your favorite potted plant (just make sure to leave it in its plastic pot so you don’t get dirt everywhere). We could see this with a cute dip-painted effect on the bottom half, or woven with colorful yarn like this one.

An affordable frame that’s gallery wall-ready
IKEA is known for its affordable picture frames, and we’re pleased to say that Anko has some equally wonderful options. Putting together a gallery wall is way easier when you have tons of wallet-friendly frames at your disposal, like the one shown above.
Buy: Photo Frame – 8in. x 10in. (20cm x 25cm), Oak, $5
A trolley ready for a bar-worthy transformation
This bamboo cart was listed under Anko’s bathroom category, but a little DIY magic (and a few bottles of wine) could turn it into the perfect bar trolley, too. Take inspiration from these IKEA bar cart hacks and add a towel bar to hang bar tools, or racks to hang wine glasses. At just $35, it’s a great buy that will serve a variety of purposes and can easily be rolled into various rooms as needed.
