One of our favorite stores is preparing to give educators a much-needed break on their back-to-school expenses.

In case you missed it the first time around, for the second year in a row, Target has announced its Teacher Prep Event to give teachers a discount off school supplies. Beginning on July 13, teachers are invited to display their school ID in order to receive 15% off school supplies and other essentials. Among the discounted items are Bullseye’s Playground items, colored pencils, crayons, classroom storage items, folders, markers, pencils and Pillowfort furniture.

This year’s discount also includes a list of additional items, like disinfecting wipes, food storage bags, hand sanitizer, tissues, and adult clothing and accessories, including shoes, performance and basics. According to the event’s FAQ  page, excluded items include “electronics, backpacks, lunch bags, trial & travel size items, swim, sleepwear, Fan Central, clearance, items sold & shipped by Target+ Partners and Levi’s Red Tab.”

Of the success of the inaugural prep event, Target’s vice president and general merchandise manager of apparel, accessories and home Jill Sando cited a “phenomenal response” that ultimately resulted in millions of dollars of savings on teachers’ school supplies.

“I’m excited we’re bringing the event back again this year with an expanded assortment of items eligible for the 15% discount, helping teachers save and get what they need for the upcoming school year,” Sando said.

Sign up for the Teacher Prep Event can be done either in-store or online. And while the discount is primarily offered for K-12 teachers, the store is also extending the option to home-schooling parents and teachers as well as day care and early childhood center educators.

Teachers who complete the online sign up will receive their coupons in the mail. Otherwise, interested parties can visit a local Target and display an ID or any other form of identification that’s connected to an educational system to receive the coupon.

Currently, the discount is only available for US teachers.
