The Most Colorful Rooms on Film

The great thing about fictional characters in film is they're not afraid to take risks. When your life span is just 90 minutes, painting a whole room magenta seems a lot less scary than living with it for a lifetime.

So leave it to these film characters (and their behind-the-scenes Art and Set Directors) to try out bold, brazen colors in their rooms, while the rest of us use these movie stills to inspire our own color stories:

Plus, here are a few more ways to pull color palette inspiration from a favorite films:

  • Over at the Benjamin Moore Color Chats blog, the post Color Magic at the Movies pairs up colorful films with paint colors for foolproof Hollywood inspiration (example above).
  • Apartment Therapy has previously spotlighted the Movies in Color Tumblr, which takes a still shot from a great film and builds a color palette around it. Print out a favorite post and take it straight to the paint shop.
