Knowing exactly how much energy your household is consuming is not always easy. Figuring out how much that energy is costing you can be even more challenging. Tendril has just introduced a device that will help to provide answers to both of these questions. The Vision by Tendril is the latest entry into home energy consumption monitors. Like the Energy Aware Clock, the Vision is intended to help consumers really engage with managing their energy consumption by using captivating design elements.

The Vision is a next gen in-home energy display that reduces energy consumption by an average of 10-15 percent. With the reduction in energy consumption comes a reduction in your electric bill, and who does not want to save money?

Connecting to the electric grid, the energy smart device provides the real-time information on the energy consumption of the household through a clean user interface that is both easy on the eyes and intuitive.

One of the things that we love is that the Vision will be able to provide real time data for pricing fluctuations (energy rates go up during peak demand times). Being able to see the change in energy rates will help consumers to better manage their energy consumption. By being better informed as to the actual costs of energy usage, there is more incentive to limit energy usage when prices are high.

The Vision is anticipated to cost under $200 and will start shipping widely in 2011.
