Growing up I didn't have Barbies, I had Hot Wheels. I used to spend hours with my brother and cousins as we set up tracks and raced cars all day long. When the day came to a close we'd have to pack everything back up so you could see the living room floor. This latest product from America's favorite toy car company eliminates that last step and keeps things out from under foot and secured to the wall. It wasn't all butterflies and rainbows, but it was a lot of fun. Here's what I thought of this product:

Upon first dumping out the contents of this shiny, picture heavy box, here's what's inside. The parts were all a jumble and suddenly I regretted photographing them on the kitchen table instead of the location where I would assemble them as I knew there was no way they were going back in the box.

The only frustration I had with the materials themselves is the fact that the car is so well tied into place that not even my super-human-blogger brain could untie it. The little rubber band was wrapped so tight, I had to temporarily abort this part of the task and come back to it later when I wasn't hulking out over it.

The main idea of Wall Tracks is you hang a large template on the wall, apply hooks and assemble the track on top of them. The only instructions given in the package were the ones pictures above and below. The template should be hung in a space approximately 3 feet wide and 12" from one wall on the left side.

After following said directions, it turns out I needed slightly more than 3 feet of space, though the 12" direction was spot on. Even though my finished creation hangs off the wall slightly it hasn't affected its stability and surprisingly the family has only walked into it once in recent weeks.

The pieces assembled easily enough though the directions weren't really clear on what piece goes where. The photos on the box are enough to help you stumble through without feeling completely incompetent. This box contains enough for basic fun, but there are extra add on sets available that your kids may pester you for.

When it comes to value for money, this product is totally worth it in this blogger's humble opinion. It has been nice to always have the track set up and ready to play with at the drop of a hat instead of a serious time commitment to assemble and break down at the end of play time. It fits in a relatively small space and has literally been hours of fun thus far. Oh yeah, and the kids had fun too!

• Relatively compact
• No clean up
• Assembles in less than 30 minutes
Add on kits are available for $13-$20 (plus they're kinda awesome)

• Directions aren't quite specific enough; make sure to allow extra wall space
• If you want to relocate the track you'll need to save the template for later use
