The Amcor: The Iconic Fridge Chair

Finding the right chair isn't always easy. You've got a lot of different choices, and sometimes it's not obvious which one would suit you best. First of all, you need something comfortable. Then you need to think about how it looks. Afterward, you'll need to make sure it fits in your home office. When I saw the Amcor chair, I was really surprised. It is a green chair made from recycling a refrigerator.

The chair and matching stool are made from an Amcor 7, an Israeli refrigerator from the 50s. Designers Yinnon and Danit Simhi were inspired by Eero Aarnio's iconic Globe Chair from the 60s. The red cushioning really contrasts well with the white exterior. It's interesting how you are really sitting inside the fridge when you sit down in this chair.

This is a great distinctive piece of furniture that would work well in a number of different situations. It could be at the office, in your home office or simply at your desk. With the matching stool, it's kind of like the perfect thinking chair, where you sit down to think about certain problems and ruminate over them. I also like how they recycled an old fridge to make this chair. That's pretty eco-friendly. Now if someone could only turn all of the old fridges out there into cool looking chairs![via PicoCool]
