We are well into fall, but infamous Black Friday isn’t too far away either. What should you buy this month, versus hold off on until November? Here’s what you can expect to find good deals on this October:

Wigs & Mustaches: No, seriously. Stock up on Halloween costume needs right right around the 31st (and especially November 1st), and stick them aside for next year. You never know when you’re going to need a Shirley Temple wig or fishnet stockings.

Stoves & Appliances: New models come out each winter. To ensure there’s space for these large items on the sales floors, this year’s models get their prices slashed. You saw lower prices in September and you can expect more of the same in October and November.

Cars: The clock is ticking on 2014, and dealers want to get rid of their new summer inventory. Now that it’s October, the end of the year is in sight, and they are starting feeling the pressure.

Clothing: Now that everyone is back at school, stores are slashing prices on clothing, and especially denim. This is the start of fall fashion sales, which will continue into the holiday season.

Electronics: People seem to agree that you should wait until Black Friday for most electronics. The only exception is the iPad, because Apple is expected to announce an update later in the month. In anticipation, retailers will be trying to liquidate older models.
