The Big M

Macy's has always been a department store I've dreaded entering- who really wants to be suffocated by the swarming throngs of perfume spritzers, only to be crushed by the mass of hurried tourists clammering up the old wooden escalators? And don't even get me started on those's enough to give anyone a headache. But, that's why Al Gore invented the internet, so we could all enjoy the affordable prices and wide range of home products that Macy's has to offer from the comfort of our own home.

Today I'll focus on Macy's bath towel selection, because to be quite frank, it's not that bad. Hey, at least I'm not talking about shower curtains, right?

Macy's towel collection is both extremely affordable and pretty decent for a department store. I always associate department store bath departments with half empty shelves and lots of beige colored washcloths. Macy's carries a pretty good series of towels from designers like Tommy Hilfiger (don't worry, they're not all red, white and blue), Lilly Pulitzer, Kate Spade, Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren and Missoni. I'm particularly fond of the Tommy Hilfiger (never thought I'd ever say that) collection, along with Missoni's trademark striped collection. The Hilfiger collection is everything you'd expect from the classic American sportwear designer- bright, colorful and classic. His "signature" collection, which boasts 12 bold color choices all below $13, is a really great way to change up the color theme in your bathroom and add a little summer flair. Hilfiger also designed a collection called "geo" that epitomizes Hamptons style with its bright, beachy colors and clean, modern patterns. All below $7.

Missoni's towels ooze the Italian designer's trademark love of stripes and bold color; Giacamo, my favorite pattern, is full of zest and will only set you back $38.

Kate Spade and Lilly Pulitizer represent with their well-known girly style and a collection full of summery hues, heavy on the greens and pinks. They're a bit girly for my taste, but sometimes you just need a hot pink towel and these girls won't let you down. All below $35.

Macy's collection certainly has a lot to offer if you're looking for an affordable way to add some pizazz to your bathroom. Cruise on by their bed and bath section for a closer look at their full towel collection.
