For those that don't have time to make their own vegetable stock, Boullion cubes are a simple way to cut down on packaging and shipping costs instead of purchasing the heavy store-bought kind.

In addition, it does double-duty as the subject of a painting by Cara Buchalter of Octavine Illustration, who uses goache on Plywerk, an environmentally-friendly wood substitute...

Since you add the water to the cube after your home, the shipping weight of stock is greatly reduced.

For her artwork, Cara uses Plywerk, a substrate made in her town of Portland, Oregon. She has some fantastical, deco-inspired pieces for sale at her Etsy shop, check them all out here. We love this one:

She also has some retro-y handmade cards, printed on recycled paper.
