The Car Of The Future, Now!

Could the biggest piece of technology... be a car? In every conceivable way, a wireless enabled car could become the 4th device in your digital life, along with your TV, computer and smartphone. So prepare yourself for what's in store for you... Because the future is closer than what you think.

The LTE Connected Car. This is a proof of concept that is not that far away; an Alcatel-Lucent kitted Toyota Prius with 4 hi-res touch screens and a stack of applications. Using the new 4G wireless technology which delivers seriously fast data rates, fast enough to run 3 simultaneous HD DVD's and then some more!

The touchscreens are about 8" wide and 7.5" high. For safety reasons and to avoid distractions, the driver's screen turns off all the entertainment once the car start running but all the digital warnings and OBC messages are still active to the pilot. When all screens are illuminated in the car, the effect is quite impressive and turns the whole experience in a multimedia overload.

Having kids problems during long trips will be a thing of the past. From games to movies, from apps to content that can be downloaded immediately from the web. When you cruise along, the audio could be streamed to the bluetooth enabled headphones; and that only means one thing to the driver: Happy kids.
