We just spotted this prototype for a chair by Bertjan Pot -- he of the lovely Random Light -- and were intrigued.

He writes, Did you ever use carbon tracing paper to get a copy of a drawing you liked or needed? Well, I used carbon fiber and epoxy resin to sketch a 3d version (strong enough to sit on) of one of my favorite chairs. More than fifty years after Charles Eames made his plastic chair, it's design and construction still stands, even in carbon because of his brilliant engineering job. (prototype, will not go in production)

We like this chair with its Eiffel Tower legs more than The Carbon Chair, which is in production.

See more of his designs on his blog.
