The Desk Project

Kids of Kathmandu is a non-profit started by two Brooklyn artists last year to benefit the orphans in Kathmandu, Nepal. For their first project they asked 11 New York artists to design and make kids desks to be auctioned off to raise money for education in Nepal. The result is a collection of remarkable creations.

The 11 desks are all stunning works of art that would make a great addition to any home. Even if you can't bid on them, these desks are inspiring pieces of furniture that speak to the impact of great design. While few of us can make pieces this impressive, each desk inspires me to be more creative.

Check out Kids of Kathmandu | The Desk Project to see all eleven impressive desks as well as profiles on all the artists and insight to their process and inspiration. Which desk is your favorite?
