The DIY Loudspeaker Projects Site

Here's an excellent and inspiring online resource for those of you who fall under the DIY-minded audiophile category of our readership (aka folks like our very own Peter Treadway). Troels Gravesen of Denmark has collected a selection of project instructions to aid in the construction of your own stereo speaker cabinets and component hardware, from cutting wood components down to the wiring!

The site includes a dizzying amount of component options, but provides a solid framework for anyone serious enough to put their wood working skills into effect for the joy customizing your home with your own hand-built audio component ("What kind of speakers are those?" "Oh…I built those myself" [beaming proudly). There's plenty of diagrams and photos, accompanied by resources galore for reference.

Obviously, these projects are not for the majority of us easily scared by instruction manuals to set your microwave clock, but even so, fascinating enough to preview what is possible if you've got the tools and the know how. If there's one project we'd love to create, it would be huge wood block turntable.
