Free. It's kind of a magic word. Who does not love free things...especially when they are as useful as a tripod for the iPhone 4? This neat DIY project uses items from around the house to make a smartphone tripod and takes only a couple of hours to build.
Although there are quite a few inexpensive smartphone tripods out there, Instructable user Spiderham, decided for his first Instructable to create one of his own design using items he had around the house.
The primary material for this project is a temporary license plate tag, however any other suitable material can be substituted. The tools that are required are: a square & ruler, drill w/ 3/16' drill bit, 1/4-20 tap w/ tap handle, coarse file & sand paper, saw, utility knife, clamps, and Gorilla glue.
We think this is a clever way to use objects that you might already have around the house and turn them into something more useful like a tripod perfect for video calls.
