Improving the USB Powered Fan

Improving the USB Powered Fan

We're always joking around at the Unplggd office about how easy it would be to implement sci-fi elements into our homes without making it look like something out Tron, but we never feel like the tech has ever been well-implemented. Until now, of course, where we're finally starting to see the first baby steps in the exploration of USB-powered desk fans...

Most USB fans, like the one above, are just good at one thing: pushing hot Summer air.

Okay, so fans aren't generally the most exciting topic out there, but companies like Dyson have proven that there's still plenty of room to be explored in the category.

Above in the first picture, we have Monodo, Japanese company, introducing a first-of-its-kind: a voice-operated command USB-powered desk fan. However, we feel that's just the tip of the iceberg. What about having it connect to our phones? Wireless power? Or perhaps just better build quality?

Even though we're not expecting evolutions in the USB fan space any time soon, it still is nice to know folks out there are playing with new ideas, even if they could've easily been implemented so long ago.

Ah, but for now, we'll take what we can get. And for $35, you can have your very own voice-operated USB fan.
