The Future is Now! A Smart Coffee Cup That Keeps Your Beverages Warm
It’s about to be peak winter Hygge season and I don’t know about you but I’m excited as hell to stay inside and hold a mug with both of my hands. But sometimes the warmth emanating from own two palms is not enough to keep a mug of coffee warm as I slowly sip it throughout the morning. Luckily Ember, a Los Angeles based start-up, is here to solve this very particular, but common annoyance.
The company specializes in temperature-controlled products and with a smart, temperature control travel mug already on the market, this ceramic mug was a natural next step. At almost $80 a mug, it is certainly a luxury, but the design is sleek, sexy and incredibly well thought out. The mug connects to your phone or watch so you can control your mug of tea from across the apartment, which is some major “we live in the future” stuff. You can also save your favorite drinks and your preferred temperature for each of them. It heats beverages up to 145 degrees, so if near-scalding is your thing, they’ve got you covered.
The company’s mission statement touts their belief in “the transformative power of temperature control” and they have plans to expand their technology into baby bottles and medicine. The mug is available online and in select Starbucks locations.
