The Future of Technology in Your Home?

With this short video, Corning Incorporated presents its vision for the future, which naturally involves lots of glass-related technology in your home, your car and your smartphone. Some of these technologies exist in nascent form already — which do you have, which do you want, and which do you think are signs of the apocalypse?

The main idea is computerized glass touch-screens that can be integrated into virtually any surface, from the bathroom mirror to the kitchen counter to the car dashboard. My favorite idea is the photovoltaic glass that can adjust how much sunlight they let in, eliminating the need for blackout shades and other window treatments. The glass smartphones are also stunning, and their ability to seamlessly link up with the various computerized touch-screen surfaces is pretty awesome, though as someone whose own smartphone has a spider's web of cracks across the screen, I do wonder at the practicality of it all.

What do you think?
