This Saturday, Junc Gallery hosts Cast, a group sculpture show featuring the work of artists Evah Fan, Gary Garay, Jungmin Koh, Albert Reyes, Florencio Zavala, Rachell Sumpter, Luke Ramsey, Patrick Roberts, Esther Watson, Mark Todd, Jess Hutch, and Mari Araki.
For this show artists take the rejuvenation of worn themes and popular visual vernacular normally part of their practice and translate their ideas into sculpture. The results are unique three dimensional experiments that range from comically tinged absurdity to pure formal whimsy, all the while expanding on specific genre and individual vocabulary. The artists we've assembled for this show is impressive and an unusual opportunity for the viewers with many of the artists creating sculptural works for the first (and maybe only) time.
Mike Kelley's Sunset Junction gallery shares its space with arbiter of good goods, Giant Robot, making a visit a gangbang of visual gratification (and a test of willpower). Junc has earned a reputation as a small, but passionate supporter of young artists, with artwork priced within an affordable range, offering an opportune chance of becoming the happy owner of something unique for the home that trumps any store bought item.
