The Gallery: Jim Sperber
Series 8, Abeline Vinyl, enamel, latex and steel on wood, 15″x19″ 2006
Introducing Jim Sperber.
Earlier this year Jim was featured on the site for his interior decorative painting and finishes. He happens to also be a terrific painter of paintings – and has a show opening this week. I thought I’d take readers on a spin through some of his work from the past 4 years.
Sperber’s earlier paintings really center their interest in pattern and motion and have a lovely breadth of mood and vibrancy.
Series 2, Green on Pearl Acrylic on canvas, 36″x48″ 2002
Series 2, Black on White 5 Acrylic on canvas, 54″x54″ 2002
Series 5, Burger Baby Latex on canvas, 24″x48″ 2004
Series 6, Angel In White Acrylic and latex on Canvas, 36″x36″ 2004
His most recent series incorporates both wood and metal in addition to paint and the patterns and grids are giving way to more organic and maplike forms. Works from this series (including the one at the top) will be featured in his upcoming show.
