Going Through a Breakup? You Could Win a Free Trip Inspired By “The Holiday”

For any of you out there going through a breakup right now, we sincerely feel for you (cue Lizzo’s “Truth Hurts” on repeat, please). And thus, we present you with an admittedly sad contest—sad because it’s for people who’ve gone through a break-up—with a pretty rad prize if you win: a free cottage rental getaway.

Independent Cottages—a rental site that operates in the UK—just launched a contest for people who’ve been recently dumped. Inspired by “The Holiday” starring Kate Winslet and Cameron Diaz, the site is giving away an English cottage stay this Christmas.

The three-night experience is at The Cotswolds and is truly only for those who are single in the aftermath of a split (read: the stay is only for one person). The package includes champagne and chocolates, and the cottage itself has a fireplace, antique pine furniture, stone walls, a four-poster bed, and exposed ceiling beams.

Although the contest page uses the language “been dumped?,” anyone who’s had a breakup this year is eligible—even those who initiated it. The contest closes on Monday, November 25, so hurry up and throw your name into the hat. The entry form is simple and straightforward, but you will have to share your breakup story. 

So whether you want to sit in this cottage and mope around with some wine in tow, cozy up and write your memoir about how this breakup was the best thing that ever happened to you, or use the win as an excuse to visit the English countryside (and maybe meet some attractive locals), it doesn’t hurt to enter!
