Icelandic Home of Joel Palsson and Bergthora Gudnadottir

Having just returned from a fantastic visit to Iceland, I was pleasantly surprised to see the home of one of that nation's most innovative entrepreneurial teams featured in the summer issue of Rue.

Five years ago, Joel Palsson and Bergthora Gudnadottir started a company called Farmers Market that seeks to produce fashionable apparel with traditional Icelandic methods. I admired their stylish ads in every Icelandic print publication I picked up. The home that is featured in the online magazine carries the couple's fashion aesthetic into three dimensions. Natural materials and a sense of history pervade every item. A muted color palette reflects the landscape around Reykjavik which is covered in hardened lava fields with just the beginnings of a gray-green moss starting to take hold.

To see more of this truly contemporary Icelandic home, please check out Rue.
