We use it everyday but how often do we really think about our desks? In the web series Lines by L Studio, design aficionados set out to discover what a desk really means. We're treated to many images of beautifully crafted desks while artists and designers attempt to articulate what is so special about their own and where their deep attachment to their desk comes from. If you're having trouble finding meaning in your own office space check out this video after the jump for inspiration.

Have you ever thought of your desk as your miniature world? Or maybe the anchor of your day, the grounding force that provides continuity and balance? At once this may seem oppressive, describing the perils of a modern, work-oppressed society. But we think of it differently. The desk can be a catch-all for inspiration and imagination. It can be customized and personalized to reflect ourselves and de-stress us. We may utilize very sophisticated digital note taking systems on our computers, but nothing beats the satisfaction of seeing our tasks spread out along our desk, being able to physically manipulate and organize them. We feel a greater creative impulse when we're at our desk. It inspires us. There is an energy of productivity here. We feel compelled to work here more than anywhere else. And clearly, the desk plays a significant role in an efficent workspace which is probably why we've all spend so much time laboring over which kind would be right for us.

Have you attached any metaphysical significance to your desk? Is anything resonating with you particularly from this video? Let us know. We'd love to discuss it further.
