The Kitchen Garden Experiment
Before sending your scraps to the trash or the compost heap, consider taking on this experiment in the kitchen…
Kaley at Modern Parents Messy Kids got curious about regrowing produce from kitchen scraps, and she recognized a fun opportunity for her daughter. Together they started with pineapple, green onion and avocado scraps in empty baby food jars. Kaley made a chart for her daughter to record changes in the plants using words and drawings. Next up, they are taking on carrots, potatoes, and ginger.

To help kids better gauge the progress of their plants, make some of these growth charts.
