The Look of a Modern Bathroom

Crisp tiles, cool casework, sleek lines and a gorgeous aesthetic — the hallmarks of a modern bathroom are varied and numerous, but they always fall into the "you know it when you see it" category. These ten we've snagged from previous Apartment Therapy house tours also fall into the "we know we love it instantly" category.

Like a modern living room or kitchen, there's no real checklist you can run down to decide whether a bathroom is truly "modern" or not. They do all seem to have a sense of calmness and serenity, though, which can be a great thing to have around in this busy life. Modern bathrooms also tend to prize simplicity, eschew too much "stuff" or ornament and always seem to have good lighting (though that might just be incidental to this round-up). However you see a modern bathroom, we feel you'll get some inspiration from this list. It's true that achieving a "modern" bathroom can sometimes require a little renovation if you weren't blessed with a home with modern bones, but even if you're not willing to take a sledgehammer to your vintage cabinetry doesn't mean you can't grab some ideas from these ten gorgeous spaces.
