The fireplace in the living room is such an important architectural element and something Ashley was drawn to right away. “It has that ’70s vibe to it and I definitely played with that when I was thinking about the design,” she says. (Image credit: Julia Van Arsdale)

Project by: Ashley Redmond of Decorist
Project location: Marin, California

Ashley Redmond, Head of Design for popular E-design company Decorist, has designed rooms in the homes of Jamie Chung, Audrina Patridge, Erin Hiemstra, and more. She recently updated her own 500-square-foot tiny “treehouse” in the woods of Marin, California. Let’s take a look, shall we?

From Ashley:

My inspiration for the space was definitely a laid back, bohemian vibe. I was completely inspired by the surroundings of the “treehouse”—you walk up 47 stairs (I counted them and I notice every single one when I am carrying groceries up!) to the front deck and it is completely surrounded by trees with mountain views from every window. I feel so peaceful when I get home and I wanted to bring that feeling inside with clean whites, natural woods and pops of color in the fabrics and prints that speak to me and just make me happy to look at.

Overall, my home is my favorite place to be. I am always relaxed but inspired there, both when I look around inside and when I look outside which is so important for me! I constantly feel re-energized to create when I am home!
