The Problem with Digital Picture Frames

The Problem with Digital Picture Frames

Feb 15, 2008

We have been looking at digital picture frames for a while now, but for some reason can't find the motivation to go buy one. Why? It is easier to display different photos with a digital frame compared to a traditional frame. The prices have come down considerably over the last few years. The available sizes have increased to a point where they are big enough to display on a wall or mantle. Even with these reasons, the New York Times David Pogue has a nice article explaining why we have yet to buy one.

Lack of a power switch on some models, having to setup the frames wireless connection while plugged into a PC instead of directly from the frame, and the worst, no Mac support will continue to keep us away. Digital frames are supposed to make displaying photos easier than traditional frames, not more difficult. For that reason we will probably continue to stay away. What is your experience with digital picture frames?
