Keep On Turnin': The Stereo Cabinet Deconstructed

Designer Valerie Hebel's all-in-one audio system is a modern interpretation of the furniture style stereo console of yesteryear for the Dwell set, stripping down the physical presence to an airy minimalist form combining analog and digital listening options...

Hebel's keep on turnin' two speaker stereo system is equipped with a turntable (it appears to be a Pro-ject Debut 111 under the cover), iPod/iPhone charging and connection dock, and even a CD slot for those still listening to the ever disappearing format. But the system's true charms lay with the unfinished wood and enamel coated cover and LP holder, incorporated as both visual and movable elements (and as a big fan of grey, yellow and wood, visually quite pleasing).

It's only unfortunate at this time the keep on turnin is a one-off design exploration. But reviewing the construction, it seems highly DIY-able for someone with basic wood working skills and a few off the shelf electronic components (IKEA As-Is section, anyone?).
