The Iconic Mihoko Ouchi Designed Speak-er

I've seen these floating around last week and was pretty interested by the design and the way that they look in general. They are perfect for our new modern world, filled with computer icons. It's been mentioned that this speaker looks like something made by Art Lebedev, and I have to agree. Some of their designs look a lot like this one. Needless to say, that you won't be spending $1,600 on this, that's the price of Art Lebedev's Optimus keyboard!

The speech bubble speaker reminds you of a comic or an icon on your desktop. It reminds me of instant messaging for some reason. The aptly named Speak-ers can be plugged into your laptop or your MP3 player directly. It's hard to say it, but they do look iconic. They are somewhat small for speakers, but for some people the size will be just right. Take a look at the Folderix USB drive from Art Lededev, doesn't like the Speak-er?

The Speak-ers have not yet been released but they can be reserved via email. All that's mentioned on the website is that they will be released sometime this year. They won't come cheap. Nicely designed items rarely do. You'll have spend $120 to get yours. These types of speakers are fun, but will they really be used much? If you need something like this, you should get it, but we think that a great pair of headphones would work better, even though you can't share your music with others. [via Technabob]
