They oughta be in pictures! Among my favorite sources of decorating inspiration are the websites of location agencies, which showcase homes and other privately owned settings that can be rented as locations for film, TV and advertisements. For producers, a real home is far cheaper (and more authentic) than leasing and designing a film set…
… and for homeowners, having your rooms appear on screen or in print is more than just a thrill: it pays good money (thousands of dollars per day in some cases). For the rest of us, location agency websites are a goldmine of inspiration.
My favorite agency sites are based in the UK, featuring interiors from a range of abodes, from dilapidated castles in Scotland to uber-chic flats on London's trendiest streets. While the owners and location agents tweak and tidy these homes to attract potential clients (from big movie studios to retail companies), these homes are real. You may have already heard of Light Locations, which has popped up a few times on Apartment Therapy. Here is just a sampling of some of the other websites out there.
