Is your dog a bed hog? Imagine having eight. That’s why this couple built a megabed to sleep all their furry friends.

Chris and Mariesa Hughes are the founders of The Mr. Mo Project, a nonprofit that rescues elderly and sick dogs from kill shelters and places them in “fospice” (foster/hospice) homes for the rest of their lives. Needless to say, they’re not the type of people to kick a cuddly pup out of bed. Instead, they would often move to the couch instead. Then they had the idea for the Megabed.

The Hughes had furniture maker Mike Ford build the massive custom piece, which took six months to complete. The 14-foot long, 7-foot wide bed holds a king-sized mattress up top and a full-size mattress rotated sideways on the end. There’s storage underneath for linens and blankets, as well as stairs at the foot for the older dogs who can’t jump up like they used to. The six-foot tall headboard is carved with paw prints, and actually had to be redesigned because it was originally too large to fit out of the door of Ford’s shop.

In case you’re wondering, the Hughes’ pack includes three pit bulls, two greyhounds, one wire hair terrier, one bull terrier, and a chihuahua.
