My Room: Boaz

My Room: Boaz

Boaz's charming room is full of personality. Maria fills us in: This room was tricky because I needed it to function both as a guest room and a nursery. The inspiration for the color palette and overall feel of the room is from the Ikea painting of mother with child. The second jumping point for me to contribute to the scheme was the butterfly prints on the wall as well, giving that playful feel a nursery needs.

The challenges of the room includes its tiny size and multi-purpose uses as guest room and nursery. It had to host both a futon which opens to a bed for guests and a crib for the baby, so I needed to be mindful of scale and not overcrowd the room. After the first year Boaz will move into his brother, Gideon's boy room with bunk beds and the room will continue to function as our guest room, thus a relatively neutral palette.

The futon was a hand-me-down from my Dad and the crib from our first son, so essentially we only bought the red chair for $45 and the changing table for $12 from Goodwill; both great scores!

I love how the room is both chic enough for an adult and whimsical enough for a child too!
