Many relaxation enthusiasts (read: everyone) have made a sport out of curling up in their favorite chair. It takes a bit of work to contort your body into the most comfortable position, but once you're there it's like discovering bliss in seated form. It just so happens that in our latest search for the perfect reading chair, we discovered this odd, yet playful shape-shifting chair that will definitely help ease the process of getting comfy while sitting.
Created by communication and design studio Best Before 2065, the MANET easy chair looks like a bunch of oddly shaped pillows haphazardly thrown together, but upon closer inspection, you'll quickly understand the detail and intention that went into crafting this unique seating option.
The shape-shifting easy chair is made up of 16 fluffy cushions that allow the user to rearrange or remove them as they see fit, creating a different, customized zone of comfort. As described on MANET's website, the playful chair is "thought to give you the feeling of a soft embrace, providing you with the maximum freedom of movement at the same time. On MANET, as on a meadow, you're free to lay or to sit in your favourite position…while staying in-between the soft "stems" of the chair."
Each of the chair's removable stems, or pillow linings, is made from washable, 100 percent polyester fabric, which will probably take a little bit of stress out of getting rid of those dreaded red wine stains. Simply unzip the cover and toss it in the wash. The box structure in which the pillows are placed is made from medium-density fibreboard and a soft vinyl covering with antimicrobial and antiacarus treatment.
The MANET easy chair can also be used for storage – books can easily fit into its various nooks and crannies. Both the box and the pillows come in a variety of colors.
