Tia Mowry’s selfies are a bright light on her followers’ Instagram feeds — and part of the reason they look so good (besides the fact that they’re pictures of Tia Mowry, that is) is because they’re taken in Mowry’s black bedroom. Yes, Mowry has gone to the trendy dark side, and after seeing how awesome her dark bedroom looks, she could be inspiring more to do the same.

Since we all turned inward due to the pandemic, Mowry has been frequently posting pics from inside her charcoal-hued room in her Studio City house. The wall color isn’t black black, but instead a super-dark gray with warm green undertones that show up in artificial lighting.

By painting this room such a dark color, Mowry inadvertently created the perfect selfie background — she can light herself with natural light from the window and her face glows against the deep charcoal gray.

There’s a reason black is universally recognized as a color that looks good with everything.

Mowry loves this color so much so that she even carried it into her bathroom. The painted brick gives the space an industrial, urban feel, but those warm undertones paired with soft accents like the rug and bohemian decor keep the bathroom homey rather than sterile.

If you’ve been considering going black with your next room makeover, take a page from Mowry’s book and choose a warm, dark gray to keep it cozy while still setting yourself up for some great selfies.
