Thank the Tiki Gods... Summer may be drawing to a close, but that doesn't mean you can't still bust out that Hawaiian shirt. Tonight, Sven Kirsten celebrates the release of his new book Tiki Modern, at the new Taschen Store at the Original Farmer's Market (3rd & Fairfax). This is Taschen's first public event at the store, and its free and open to the public! Trader Vic's Lounge at Beverly Hills will be sponsoring a mai tai bar!
Tiki Modern, published by Taschen, "blends two recent retro trends, mid-century modern and Tiki style. With his usual mixture of ironic detachment and genuine enthusiasm for the subject, Sven Kirsten shows readers how primitivism and modernism were two sides of the same coin in the 1950s and 1960s." Sven will be signing books and Tiki music will be playing. Stop by, get a book signed, enjoy a Mai-Tai, maybe do a little hula? The event is from 6:00pm- 8:00pm. The Taschen Store at The Farmer's Market is at 3rd & Fairfax (6333 W. 3rd St.) at the Clocktower. Two hours free parking with a Farmers Market merchant validation.
