Don’t put away those floral prints and your grandmillennial furniture just yet, for cottagecore style is here to stay.

According to a study of TikTok hashtags by insurance site GoCompare Home, last year’s popular interior design trend is also this year’s most popular one. The quaint countryside aesthetic came in first with a staggering 5.3 billion hashtags on the social media platform, followed (far behind) by mid-century modern at 70.6 million hashtags.

To prove just how homeowners have embraced cottagecore, the third spot is occupied by a Cottagecore-related trend — dried flowers. The rest of the list, meanwhile, includes green walls, pink bathrooms, and Japandi (a combo of Japanese minimalism and Scandinavian style). Here’s the complete list:

  1. Cottagecore (5.3 billion hashtags)
  2. Mid-Century Modern (70.6 million)
  3. Dried Flowers (60.2 million)
  4. Wall Paneling (5.6 million)
  5. Green Walls (5.2 million)
  6. Pink Bathrooms (1.8 million)
  7. Japandi (1.8 million)
  8. Dark Kitchens (699,000)
  9. Kitchen Pantries (662,800)
  10. Textured Walls (5,416)

It’s no surprise though that cottagecore is still so popular. The aesthetic allows folks to connect to nature and the natural world in a time when many people are self-isolating at home.

“With ample time on our hands when the pandemic hit and quarantine became commonplace across the globe, we turned to finding fulfillment and purpose outside of our monetary potential—and cottagecore was the perfect vehicle,” enthusiast Noemie Sérieux told Architectural Digest.

And the cottagecore aesthetic doesn’t have to cost you a ton of money. Here’s how to get the look without a big budget (all these items are under $30 on Amazon).
