This Tiny House Comes With a Mountaintop View—And You Can Stay There
Apparently, you can’t go wrong with a home that’s named after a piece of furniture. For solid evidence to support that oddball architectural claim, look no further than The Old Blue Chair tiny house, which is as adorable as it sounds.
A husband and wife team designed the Chattanooga, Tennessee home and tapped Tennessee Tiny Homes to realize their vision. The cozy cottage offers views of Lookout Mountain and the surrounding valley (which includes the world’s biggest hang gliding park!), making it quite the country getaway.
For starters, the tiny home is clad in a cedar siding and is accentuated by an eye-catching blue handcrafted Dutch door and a spacious elevated wooden deck that’s accessible by three steps or an adjoining ramp. Behind its homey exterior, the dwelling’s interior is decidedly sleek and modern. Dark wooden floors give it a sophisticated feel and beautifully contrast with the white-washed walls. The kitchen features a farmhouse sink, a gas stove and a dining table that serves as a divider from the living space. Ladders on either end of the home lead to dual loft that hovers above the cooking area and houses a comfortable pullout bed.
Because it’s virtually impossible to stay in country cottage and not catch up on your reading, the home features a hidden reading nook with a circular window that’s conveniently tucked away beneath the staircase. There’s also a spacious bathroom with a toilet, storage space beneath the sink and a rain shower. To add to the relaxing environment, there’s a fire pit and outdoor hot tub, making this the ultimate tiny home escape.
The Old Blue Chair home is currently available for rent on Airbnb for $159 a night. For more information about what it’s like to hole up in a “glam meets Farmhouse” setting, check out the listing online.
