Some of us have long desired to scratch “build a treehouse” off of our to-do lists but the logistics combined with lack of know-how and plain old procrastination quickly relinquished the idea back to the “childhood dream” category from whence it came. But it doesn’t have to stay there! This lovely prefab treehouse proves that honing your arboreal architecture skills may be easier than it looks. Not only is the treetop hideaway absolutely gorgeous, it’s apparently really easy to assemble. Win-win.

Built for two friends, the Halden treehouse is the creation of German design firm Baumraum. Amazingly, the home only takes a few days to go from a prefabricated system of separate pieces to a complete treehouse with 236 square feet of space. The original structure underwent the pre-fab process in Germany before making the trip to its current location in the town of Halden, Sweden. Once on site, the tiny structure was propped up on four wooden support beams.

The treehouse is made up of a gabled roof, a glazed front wall, a steel frame and black metal siding. The interior is clad in all oak, including the walls, ceiling, flooring and the built-in furniture. Large windows allow plenty of natural light to illuminate the living space. The house includes a kitchen, a sitting area complete with wood-burning fireplace as a well as a bathroom with sink, which sits just beneath a loft space.

Outside, the views are even more impressive, thanks to a wraparound deck that can accommodate a dinette set or patio chairs, making this the ultimate treehouse glamping experience.

Baumraum currently has treehouse projects that are either completed or in the planning stages in various countries, including Argentina, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, China, the Czech Republic, France, Italy, the US, and Switzerland, among others.
