Toddler Travel in New York City

Q: I was hoping I could get some help from fellow readers. My husband, daughter and I will be visiting New York City this summer and I'm wondering about transportation. My daughter will be almost 2 and therefore rides in a toddler car seat. We will be taking subways the majority of the time, but what about those quick cab trips? Any helpful hints?

Editor: One thing to know is that taxi drivers in New York are exempt from car seat laws and children under the age of 7 can legally ride on the lap of an adult. New Yorkers, how do you get around town with young kids?
