Top Shelf

Top Shelf

Storage in a small bathroom can sometimes be a challenge. You can only put so much on the counter, and an etagere above the toilet can be limiting. One area that sometimes is forgotten, is above the door. A friend of ours had a great solution. She used a metal rack usually used for the kitchen to hang pots off of, and placed it above the bathroom door. This provided a great space to put extra linens. This concept can also be great for other rooms as well.

I used the ever popular floating shelf from Ikea and mounted it flush to the corner of the wall. I then added lights underneath. It adds instant architectural detail to an otherwise unused space. It also helps if it stays the same color as your wall color, giving an almost "built in" effect. Does anyone have any other storage ideas for typically unused spaces?
