Workroom is the Chicago atelier of designers Joel Klaff and John Diekmann. A major focus of their design studio is the creative use fabric in the creation of custom, couture window treatments. Good news : they are now launching an affordable "ready to wear" version of their window fashions, the Townhouse Collection...

Joel says "Fabulous style doesn't have to come at outrageous prices. There are so many new residents, even near our studio, that we're simply responding to a very real need among our customers. Many families, especially first time home owners, are under budgetary restrictions."

The Townhouse Collection works like this: Start with precut drapery panels - available in a choice of fabrics such as Dupioni silks (in 100 colors!). Customers then choose from four different pleat styles. Each panel is lined, and lengths are custom finished in Workroom's studio.

The final choice is hardware (pulls, rods and tie backs) in contemporary or traditional styles to help further define the look.

Available only at Workroom, 1906 W. Belmont. Tuesday through Saturday 10-6.
