Tracee Ellis Ross’ “Blue Room” Makes Everything in it Pop
Back in October 2020, “Black-ish” star Tracee Ellis Ross told Shape that her entire Los Angeles home has morphed into a “meditation space.” And what’s more calming and zen than a deep blue ceiling-to-baseboard-painted living room? Ross has been spending a lot of time this past year in her “Blue Room,” a cave-like space that radiates warmth despite its cool hue, and it may be bold, but you’ll want your own blue room after seeing how beautiful her space looks.
Throughout the past year, fans and followers have been treated to selfies taken from different spots in and around Ross’ blue living room (which also houses a massive gray-blue sectional, by the way), and in every single photo, the blue walls make Ross’ art, plants, decor, and Ross herself, pop. It’s the perfect color for showing off all the things that make Ross happy and centered.
The color Ross chose for this space is similar to Benjamin Moore’s “Marine Blue” and Sherwin-Williams’ “Dignity Blue.” It reads close to navy with a touch of warmth, which helps to bring out the tones from her gold-framed artwork, hardwood floors, and greenery.
The matching ceiling and wall color make the living room extra cozy. The dark color absorbs the sunlight, letting the decor reflect the light and pop against the blue.
A dark royal blue is definitely a bold choice for a space one spends so much time in. But if you’re into that cozy feel and aren’t afraid of color, it may be a fun choice to display your art and decor. Plus, as Ross will tell you, it makes for a great Zoom backdrop.
