This New $9 Trader Joe’s Find Is Giving Me All the Holiday Feels
As much as I’m not ready for the holidays, we’re just a little more than a month out from Dec. 25. And if I’m being real with myself, maybe I’m just mad that I’m not more on it right now? I blame it on Thanksgiving being late this year. That said, all it takes for me to catch holiday feelings, other than a Hallmark or Lifetime holiday made for TV movie marathon, is a good deal. And my trip to Trader Joe’s last night didn’t disappoint, friends. Because this year, in addition to advent calendars galore and seasonal sweets, they’re stocking a rainbow-colored felt garland that’s a dead ringer for a smaller, more expensive one from fancy pants home decor brand Roost.
It’s not that other places don’t carry colorful wool garlands; they’ve been a holiday staple for a while now. But for $8.99, Trader Joe’s 9-foot long Handcrafted Felted Wool Garland is a lot of bang for your buck—and this very enthusiastic Reddit thread agrees. Most stores’ similarly priced items are about half the length. So if you’re trying to use one to trim a tree, for example, you’ll need a bunch, whereas this guy could be way more efficient. And, of course, you can use it on your mantel, staircase, or table, too. And it’d be a super sweet touch year-round in a kid’s room hung right over the headboard.
I found the garlands in a bin near checkout at my store, but they could be in the “new” section or on a shelf near the kitchen towels as well. If you’re at all into this garland, my advice is to go get one now because the Trader Joe’s club on Facebook is already buzzing about it. I saw at least three other people with one of these guys in their baskets last night, and I’ve already found a few on eBay too, but they’re definitely more expensive there. Guess you have to pay a premium for the convenience of not waiting in the Trader Joe’s lines.
So get after it! And while you’re at it, maybe pick up one of these cute trivets too. I didn’t see them at my store, but I’m sure they’re going to be a hot holiday item as well, since they’d make a great gift and are super affordable at $4.99 each.
