Trader Joe’s Is Selling Ivy Wreaths with Built-In Twinkle Lights

It’s nearly time to deck the halls, and this year, Trader Joe’s has an easy, twinkly solution. TJ’s is currently selling an ivy wreath that comes with built-in fairy lights — and you don’t even need a door to hang it on.

“Picked this up @traderjoes,” one Instagram user wrote about the new plant, which they bought in Virginia Beach, Virginia. “It came with the fairy lights!”

This English Ivy wreath is actually a potted plant that you can continue to grow long after the holiday season. It appears to have been grown around a metal wreath-shaped frame that can be decorated like a standard wreath. 

One Instagram user decked her fairy-light wreath out for Thanksgiving using a mini pumpkin, pine cones, ribbon, and a more decorative planter.

English ivy doesn’t require a green thumb to keep it growing and healthy — simply moisten the soil when it thoroughly dries out. But no promises that it will stay contained to the wreath frame it comes on. 

This kind of ivy is a super climber, meaning it loves to grow up walls, trees, fences, and any other nearby structures. But if you want to make sure it stays contained, English ivy also does well in hanging baskets and the tendrils can be cut back often to maintain a shape, similar to a topiary.

So, not only are you getting a twinkling holiday decoration, but you’re adding a hardy plant to your growing collection.

These fairy light wreaths have been spotted at Trader Joe’s locations all over the U.S., so head to your local TJ’s sooner than later before they disappear.
