Christmas cards don't get much respect. We put them up on the fridge for a few weeks, or maybe we pin them to a cork board cluttered with other holiday ephemera. Ultimately they get tossed after the last string of lights have been taken down, their messages forgotten — but not so with these whimsical hand painted art cards from TreeSpace Studio.
As the artist behind Los Angeles-based TreeSpace Studio, Amy Tan believes that "making something beautiful for keeps is the greatest form of sustainability."
Not only does the studio print on environmentally sound materials, it also creates a miniature work of art that's worthy of a frame on your wall. Drawing upon nature and nostalgia, each greeting is meticulously hand lettered and illustrated, and the sentiments inside only make it that much more treasured.
Debuting this holiday is "A Snow Jar for Winter," a collection about the precious miniature worlds behind glass. This seasonal set of archival-quality art cards is printed on handmade, extra thick Fair Trade jute paper. The "dream BIG" series of watercolor cards is inspired by the flora and fauna of California. Signed by the artist and available only on seeded paper, these plantable cards are hand made the old-fashioned way by local small businesses. If you can bear to part with your art, the cards will spring up as wildflowers the following season! TreeSpace Studio will also hand paint personalized graphics for your own custom set of gift tags.
And if holiday greetings are not your thing, the studio specializes in custom invitations, keepsake maps, storybooklets, stationery, and other objects of illustrated whimsy.
