Try This: Paint Your Ceiling the Same Color as Your Walls

One of our favorite new tricks for sprucing up your home? Painting the ceiling the same color as the walls. It’s an elegant, cohesive look, and one that’s relatively easy to acheive. Read on for more examples.

This space (from Dimore Studio, via Trendland) would be fantastic even without the eclectic mixture of antiques. The contrasting dark blue painted ‘wainscot’ at the bottom of the wall grounds the space, while the soothing light blue that covers the upper portion of the walls and ceiling creates an endless plane of color makes the room seem larger.

Try it with black, if you dare. What makes it work in this room: adequate natural light ensures that the space doesn’t feel too cavernous — and light falling on the mix of dark and jewel-toned furnishings makes them almost glow against the dark background.
