Padded doors seem institutional. But tufted doors are downright classy. Here's a look at a funky and unique way to dress up the basic household door.

Finding a tufted door may prove to be difficult. You can always scour flea markets and antique stores, but your best bet is to contact a local designer who can have one specially made.

Dennisjudd posted some how-to instructions to make your own, but it's serious carpentry and you may end up in a different kind of padded room.
