We came across Typemachine
because Tim’s an AT reader and we like to click around and see who people are when they give us a link and we have some spare time. Though we’ve never been that into font design, visiting
totally converted us. It shows that, like interior design, it’s all about having an eye for shape and color that is evocative of a certain time and place. Tim’s eye is very, very good.
Check out these fonts: Airborne, from “old photos and scans of airplanes that the U.S. Navy used inbetween WWI and WWII,” and Jah City, which is “loosely based on 7″ Reggae records. If you aren’t familiar, I will be posting a gallery of some of my favorite labels to accompany the font. They are truly unique and wonderful, much like the music that graces their vinyl.”
