11 Unexpected Places to Buy Art Online
If there’s one thing that makes a house a home, it’s art. Collecting art is a deeply personal experience, and is the surest way to stamp your own personality on your space—especially if you’re dealing with lots of white walls. Since shopping for art in person isn’t exactly feasible for many people, we’ve developed our own lists of retailers that sell stunning artwork online, from budget-friendly resources to larger artwork options. Now we’re bringing you our list of the best unexpected places to buy art that’ll get you one step closer to creating the gallery wall of your dreams.
1. Amazon
Maybe it’s not too surprising, but Amazon sells tons of art at amazing prices, and many of our favorite options are even available on Prime. Filter the options by category (oil, watercolor, etc.), image type (landscape, animals, etc.), height, width, or color to find exactly what you’re looking for. And if you love graphic or mid century style artwork, you’re particularly in luck, as Amazon boasts a ton of mod, geometric pieces, like this abstract print that’s under $20.
Buy: Motivated Wall Art Abstract Circle Print, $15.88
2. Anthropologie
When it comes to Anthropologie’s surprisingly large selection of wall art, there’s something for everyone, whether your style leans more classic, boho, or somewhere in between. There are even sections for custom framed art and wall art sets if you’re looking for complementary pieces. If you’re looking for portraits, we’re loving this piece from Artfully Walls.
Buy: The Other Eleanor Roosevelt Wall Art, $248
3. One Kings Lane
If your budget is a bit higher, you’ll definitely want to take a look at the expansive artwork selection at One Kings Lane. The website is an excellent resource for scooping up classic prints and photographs by some of our favorite artists, including Slim Aarons, Drew Doggett, and more. There’s also a great section for vintage art if that’s more your style.
Buy: Mara Lane Photograph by Slim Aarons, starts at $275
4. Walmart
Walmart has a huge selection of art starting at just $10, making it one of the best places to find on a budget. Shop by category, subject, style, and even room—the options are seriously endless, especially since Walmart acquired Art.com in late 2018. One of the best ways to start is by checking out Walmart’s own brands, like Drew Barrymore’s Flower Home line, where this colorful piece comes from.
Buy: Drew Barrymore Flower Home Day Birds Print, $124 $99.99
5. Target
Target is constantly expanding its selection of affordable, fashionable wall art, so be sure to check back frequently to see the latest products that have landed on the retailer’s website. You can search by style (there are sections for boho, modern, and traditional art), as well as by brand and subject. I’m the proud owner of the piece above, which looks like it would cost much more than just $24, and has garnered tons of compliments from visitors since I purchased it.
Buy: Opalhouse Line Drawing Wall Print, $27.99 $23.79
6. Urban Outfitters
Similarly, Urban Outfitters has a wide selection of boho prints, most of which are priced very affordably. And if your definition of wall art is broad, Urban sells plenty of eye-catching wall hangings that’ll give your gallery wall some texture. Add some California cool to your bedroom with the oversized ocean print above, and watch yourself instantly feel a bit more relaxed every time you give it a quick glance.
Buy: Ingrid Beddoes Sea Bliss Art Print, starts at $19
7. Apartment Therapy Bazaar
While our own online marketplace for secondhand goods is better known for furniture, you can find tons of vintage art pieces, too. The selection changes every day, but right now you can find everything from mid-century modern pieces to more contemporary prints. We love this colorful modernist piece from the 1950s, particularly for a kitchen or dining area.
Buy: Mid Century Modernist Painting “Flowers”, $375
8. Lulu and Georgia
We talk about Lulu and Georgia’s rugs a lot, but did you know the Cali-cool brand also has an impressive art selection? You’ll find beautiful graphic pieces, framed textiles, and delicate sketches, like this one pictured above. You can also sort by trend, price, color, and frame to make searching easier, and many pieces are available in a variety of sizes.
Buy: Pherra Wall Art, starts at $367
9. Schoolhouse
Schoolhouse is an excellent resource for investment pieces that make a statement—literally! The brand is particularly well-known for their word art (like the iconic Work Hard & Be Nice to People print), but they have a curated selection of art beyond that piece. And if you do love graphic word art, the options they do have are anything but cheesy.
Buy: Want Better Not More Print by Anthony Burrill, starts at $149
10. Jonathan Adler
Jonathan Adler is known for his line of bold home decor, and it’s no surprise that the art featured on his site is equally eye-catching and fun. Since prices are definitely expensive, you should come here for splurge-worthy investments (and keep an eye out for deals). Who can resist something as fun as this beaded lipstick print? There’s also a small section for original art, as well as prints from artists like Carter Kustera and Luke Edward Hall.
Buy: Lipstick Beaded Wall Art, $895
11. Rejuvenation
You may know Rejuvenation for its impressive lighting offerings, but West Elm’s sibling also has tons of artwork that’ll appeal to every style. In particular, we recommend checking out the antiques & vintage section for one-of-a-kind finds—but if you see something you like, take note that certain finds go fast.
Buy: Framed Seaside Oil Painting, $325
