Unexpected Tiles Spotted on a Stove

You can't imagine how delighted we get when we come across a design element we've never seen before, especially when we think it's something done successfully and could be reproduced. On a recent house tour photoshoot, we spotted a cute mid-century modern tile back splash—used on a stove!

This post is going to be a bit of a tease—the rest of these gorgeous Austin home's photos won't be shown until Friday's tour (so stay tuned!), but we just had to share these photos of this sweet idea. Not satisfied with the entire look of this old and charming stove, the homeowner decided to cover up an unattractive spot with some tiles.

It seems like such a simple idea, yet we certainly don't see tiles used on appliances very often. We think this idea could be used in a lot of different type of similar home projects, especially those homes whose furnishings already have a lot of charm but just need a little help. Don't worry, we plan on getting the homeowner's tips and hints on how she transformed her stove, so be sure to check out the Austin house tour coming up Friday!

Where's the most unusual place you've ever seen tiles used? Have you had a furniture piece, appliance or other DIY project that's needed that little something extra, and could be transformed using tile? Tell us about your unusual tile spottings!
